Building in the Open

Working where others can see changes how you work. The audience matters less than what the visibility does to your own thinking.

I notice it in small ways. Code I know someone might read comes out different. A decision I have to explain in public gets thought through more carefully than one I only have to explain to myself. The output improves because the process does.

Not everything needs to be public, and I don’t publish everything. But my default leans toward openness. Sharing costs little, while building in isolation has a cost that stays invisible until it’s too late.
